Left 4 Dead movie posters available from Valve

Looking for a last minute stocking stuffer this holiday season? Valve is offering Left 4 Dead posters based on each of the "movies" in the popular co-op shooter. For those unfamiliar, Left 4 Dead's four levels are based on zombie movie plots each with a different name and setting. Posters for the in-game movies Death Toll, Dead Air, Blood Harvest and No Mercy are all available for $6.99 each or as a set of four for $14.99. Not a bad idea to dress up those walls this holiday season.

Video: Pulp Fortress 2

What still ain't no country we ever heard of, and we're still trying to find out if they speak English in What. The creative guys at Bonesaw Productions have taken Team Fortress 2 and mashed it up with the classic Tarantino flick, Pulp Fiction. The scene on display here, reenacted using Team Fortress 2 assets, stars the voice talent of Samuel L. Jackson and Frank Whaley, who was in pretty much every movie made in the early-to-mid '90s. Also, it's a little NSFW for excessive use of the word, "What." You know, among other words.

Midway hypes secret title, claims looks ‘better’ than Gears of War 2

Author: Dustin Burg  |  Category: Xbox Articles

Hyping up a game before its release is commonplace in the industry. Hyping up a game that hasn't even been revealed is a bit more rare. Then there's hyping up an unannounced game by claiming it's better than an A+ heavy hitter like Gears of War 2, something that is simply unheard of, but is exactly what Midway is doing.

Talking to Videogamer.com, Midway creative director Simon Woodroffe compared their upcoming secret project to Epic's blockbuster, claiming it "looks as good if not better than Gears 2." How boastful. Woodroffe goes on to say that Midway's secret project (tentatively scheduled for release in 2010) is "similar to Gears, but a totally different set up" and is already looking prettier thanks to their company's sharing of technology. We're going to mentally catalog Mr. Woodroffe's statement and, come 2010 when this secret project makes it to market, we'll be sure to make Gears 2 comparisons ... and judge harshly.

Super Street Fighter II HD looks slightly less appealing, to some

Author: Xav de Matos  |  Category: Xbox Articles

Maybe it's just us but Super Street Fighter II HD Remix looks hella pretty. Pretty perfect, actually. Unfortunately some videophiles may not agree as news has come out that SSFIIHDR upscales in-game character sprites and crops backgrounds when played in 16:9 wide screen. According to notorious pixel counters Digital Foundry, SSFIIHDR is scaling characters and cropping backgrounds because the game was developed to be played old school, that is to say using 4:3 aspect ratio. While we like our games pretty we just don't see enough issue and it becomes even less apparent while you're playing the game. Videophiles have a right to know, though.

Rare ‘may do something’ with Killer Instinct franchise

Author: Dustin Burg  |  Category: Xbox Articles

Filed under:

Being the teases that they love to be, Rare studio head Mark Betteridge told Eurogamer that they're still kicking around the idea of bringing back Killer Instinct, but that the idea would have to be something uniquely special.

"Killer Instinct is an IP that is fondly remembered and we may do something with it," Betteridge admitted, "but it's a tricky market to be like the old Killer Instinct." If Rare were to bring back Killer Instinct, they'd require some sort of market "revolution", as was done with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Let's just hope that if they were to do another KI, that it wouldn't stray too far away from the golden formula.

[Thanks, Joe]

Another handy NXE game install size guide

Author: Richard Mitchell  |  Category: Xbox Articles

It seems like putting together lists of NXE game install sizes is all the rage these days. Now NeoGAF has joined the fun, compiling one of its own. This list includes a few games not featured on the Binge Gamer list we mentioned earlier this month. The list seems fairly exhaustive and we're sure that GAF users will be making it as comprehensive as possible. Many of the games listed also have comments as to how the game performs once installed to the hard drive. Just in case you're wondering -- and we know you are -- yes, load times in Rumble Roses XX are significantly reduced.

Four DLC packs for Last Remnant in December

Author: Richard Mitchell  |  Category: Xbox Articles

If you've been able to look past the numerous reported technical issues with The Last Remnant, you should be happy to hear that that three downloadable content packs are on the way for the game. The first, Challenge Pack 1: Purgatory's Sins, will be available to Xbox Live Gold members on December 1 and Silver members on December 8. This pack includes new guild tasks. Also available on these dates will be The Key of Ancient Ruins which, appropriately enough, unlocks the Ancient Ruins in the game. The third bit of DLC, Challenge Pack 2: The Price of Lies, which includes more guild tasks, will be available to Gold members on December 22 and Silver members on the 29th. All three of the above content packs will be completely free.

Finally, March to War, which was previously available only to those who had pre-ordered the game, will be made available to both Gold and Silver members on December 15 for 100 Microsoft Points. March to War adds three more formations for the game: Scatterswarm, Goblet and Catapult.
